Vacuum tube inlet manifold

Does anyone know what that silly rubber pipe does coming out of the manifold? It goes to the hot air inlet on the old filter box can I blank it off?? Seem like a waste of space and a leak spot waiting to happen.
Cheers Dave

It provides vacuum pressure to a solenoid thats control via ecu to open and close the second airfilter inlet. As for waste of space, no not really, and a its a very well designed clever induction system, and never known one to fail so again no it wont leak. You can disconnect and blanked it off, it will just leave the second inlet open constantly. Just dont unplug the the electrical plug from the solenoid as it throws up engine management light on the dash. And if think about hot air in the engine bay, run a cold air feed down below the headlight.
