Track rods

Last Mot had an advisory that my track rods have slight play in them.
Just had the car serviced says they now have excessive play in them.

Got quoted for both sides to be fitted £78 each, £104 labour then apparently I would need both sides tracked costing £42.
It all came to £310

Anyone else had trouble with these ****ers.

is that the "outer" track rods or is it the "inner" track rod ball joints that are worn?

the inner ones are only £45 each from renault....

sounds a bit on the expensive side to me does all that!

when tracking is done it for both sides anyway so why put it across as if its a seperate function for both sides is wrong

Edit: re read your reply lol. The Mot advisory states that o/s and n/s front inner rack joints have slight play.

I'm sure the garage said rods..

I think perhaps I had put it across wrong, it was £42 for laser tracking.

£42 sounds about right for 4 wheel laser alignment, I think last time I had it done I cost me around £38 but that was a few years ago. Factoring that in £270 seems a lot to supply and fit a couple of track rod ends.
