TPMS hate

Bloody system. I've always had issues with my rear passenger side sensor in the winter (check tyre pressure warning which goes once its warmed up)

This morning came out to " stop ! Tyre puncture "
So went to the tyre (passenger side rear) and looks fine. Lifted myself so I was stood on the tyre with my weight on it (and bounced on it asmuch as i could) and it didn't go down as I expected a punctured/flat tyre to do.
After driving to work it seems its the sensor raising issue with the constant up and down of the PSI due to the cold weather (-7 this morning)

Anyone know how to reset that sensor?
Is it a case of completely deflating the tyre at a petrol station and pumping it back up again?

Right I might ring round a few dealers and see if any will do it after I explain.
It's a pita as they need to be adjusted for the 5s anyway as the run at higher PSI then the 3s did.

It was no questions asked I went in with mine and they like talking about the sports as they don't have them in everyday and the service bloke was real helpfull

I heard one of the new MOT standards coming into force was that if you had a tpms system fitted it must be in full working order to pass. Or would that apply to cars registered after the change?

This is true and this is why I had mine turned off, if you have any warning light come up it is a fail,

Mine needed four new valves and then they have to be coded in which was just under £300 hence getting it turned off as its a pain anyways

technically that will only apply WHEN tpms become law - on the 197 its an option and they dont run run-flat tyres as thats why tpms are fitted to such tyre equipped cars

Right got it booked to have the system turned off. At the cost of £100.
Better then having a new valve fitted and coded in anyway.
It won't display any different once it's off. You can't tell if the clios do or don't have TPMS it's only the valves that give it away.

The valves typically last 5-7 years. My car is 6 years old (almost) so chances are this valve has had it and packed in. Before the other 3 join it ill get it turned off.

Edit to add sensor is FUBAR. I now have no rear wheel according to the TPMS :/

£100 to turn of an electronic system? Surely its a 10-20 min job with no parts required. Sounds very expensive to me.

Surely anywhere with CLIP will be able to do this? Any one of the many Renault specialist for instance?!

that crazy it only take half an hour to do max, ask them how they justify that cost....

Overheads such as buying equipment to do it, running the place, training their staff, etc etc. it's not just their time you're paying for!
