Tint removal

I bought my car last year and it was advertised as having factory tinted windows. I don't think they are factory as I was under the impression that meant the glass itself was tinted rather than having a film over it.

There's a small rip in the rear drivers side window so I thought about removing the tint. But it looks like the tint is behind the glass where it's fixed to the frame. Around the edges under the glass it looks like the film is coming away from the glass.

Any idea if this is removable? Would a normal tint place be able to remove it?

I'd say any decent window tinting company will be able to sort it out for you mate

You wanting to remove them and leave it or get them redone?

Thanks I'll find a local one and see what they say. I kinda like the tint but would like to see it without first. I'd go for a slightly lighter tint than this if anything else next time.

I had similar problem with front driver side window after 6 months or so of having tint put on it started to bubble up at the very bottom of the window, looked shite so I took it off myself and was left with a layer of glue residue coating the window! Not fun, took a good 45 mins of elbow grease to get it off

I would have a go myself, but as it looks like it goes to the edge of the glass I decided against it. I always thought tint was installed while the glass was in the car? Just wondering what the bubble/peel (1st pic) is, maybe it's not tint?

I think what your seeing from the outside is normal the mostly the side windows where the bond goes behind the glass discolours I think the only way to fix that is remove the windows sort it and refit no one is going to do that unless it's a show car.

I think all the 197 Clio's have the same tint the glass would say so if it was made tinted

Managed to remove the tint with a steam cleaner and a bit of elbow grease to remove any leftover adhesive.
