Running out of hours 30 miles from home after getting stuck in London traffic...#stranded
Out of hours? You guys have a tachograph too?
That's the only thing I'm not looking forward to when I get on the road, but I guess it's just 'perks' of the job.Yup. Right up against my 15 hours so not going anywhere until either someone turns up to drive it on or my 9 hours rest is up, whichever comes first...!

That’s bloody crap! What happens if you’ve got a coach load of people??
Also what’s the penalty for going over it?
If you’d done a 15hr day I’m not sure I’d want you driving a coach with me in it at night lolPotentially lose your license, 4 figure fines! You really can't go over it, or if you do you best have a bloody good reason, police incident or something.
If you've got passengers on, that's tough luck! Brutal but that's the rules...

Aww man! That happened to you before with passengers?

That is a royal pain mate. Glad you got a lift back
Luckily not! We did have three coaches stuck heading into Glastonbury Festival last year, took 4 hours to do 3 miles. Luckily because of the road issues we managed to get the coaches back over hours with a reference number from the police..
Cheers mate, was nice to get into bed last night haha..
15 hours is a long day tbf but if you have a two-man job (2 drivers per coach) you can go for 21 hours IIRC...:excited:
Longest single trip I've done so far is Gloucester to Edinburgh, I thought I was nearly there when I saw signs for Carlisle, god was I wrong...
Apart from kick em off?i admire coach drivers..i would not have the patience with our tragic traffic..
what do you do when somebody is sick on your coach??

Jeees!
Lol bet your heart sunk at carlisle lol!!!
Had it the other week, final night (aka cocktails and nibbles) for foreign grads for a vacuum company that rhymes with Mike Tyson........
Going down a steep hill in pitch black so only creeping along and I suddenly smelt it. Went bloody nuts because I quite easily could have stopped so he could get out the door, it was bloody EVERYWHERE. 2 & 1/2 hours cleaning it up and I can still smell it whenever I turn the heating on...gotta strip the whole interior out at some point and get the Karcher in there..
We do a lot of work for said company so it was written off, however anyone else and it would have been an on the spot payment to yours truly for between £50-150, depending on how bad it was. If I'd have charged that night, probably would have been £300. He genuinely managed to send it over three rows of seats...best part of 6m at a rough guess?
Really do feel sorry for you in situations like this. When it was my brother's stag do, I arranged a mini coach for us all. We were under strict instructions from the driver that no drinks were to be spilled and all empties were taken off. Shame some of the lads were tools and both spilled stuff and left empty bottles on...
I apologised to the driver, as it was all booked in my name, however he was rightly furious as he had a wedding the following morning and he had to clean it all up prior to that. You have my sympathies!!
Haha cheers Jimmy. 9 times out of 10 it's all fine and no issues. But you always get that one time...that was the first time I've had someone properly sick on my coach, not bad for nearly 2 years driving..
As a rule we tend not to take on stag dos etc, because we've got a half tidy fleet we try and keep it all on decent work! Always one crap job that slips through the net every so often...
