The 200 mouth

What I mean is the black insert in the front of the bumper on a 200 that holds the number plate, is this just painted plastic or what?

I'm thinking of taking it out and and doing something to tidy it up whether that be flat it and respray it or something.

It its plastic Tom and it comes of quite easily once you have the bumper off. They do get in a right mess, mines covered in stone chips, had it have been perfect it would've been off the car and moulded by now... Really should just buy one from Renault
