Sump gasket/seal

I'm replacing my sump gasket due to a slight oil leak and wondered if anyone had any dealings with doing one, i know they are supposed to be fitted dry, ie, no sealant, but has anyone done one which has remained leak free without using a sealant??

I dont really want to be doing it again so would rather make sure i got it right first time, I've got the sump off already and cleaned the sump and block surfaces so they are spotlessly clean as are all the bolts etc.

Mines under warranty too, but as i'm a car mechanic by trade i would rather sort it myself rather than let the local dealers anywhere near it!!
