Stud / Nut Conversion

Use high temp stud lock when fitting the studs

We used TRS nuts, with the lengths quoted you will get a couple of threads visible when the nut is tight
yup, loctite 272.

Thanks lads, yep I've got some Locktite 272 already, so that's good to go.

So the lengths are definitely 82mm front and 90mm rear? Gonna order now off them, so cheap, only £48 delivered for 10x 82mm 10x 90mm and 20 black open ended nuts!

no, i think it's the other way round. 90 front and 82 back. my studs went about 5/6mm deeper in the front discs. that's why i went for 75 front and 68 rear (not running spacers).

So I ordered a set from TRS, the following has the link to what is needed if you have 20mm spacers

10x 90mm (70mm thread length):
https://www.trsuk.co.uk/shop/m14-x-1-5-stud-conversion.html

10x 82mm (62mm thread length):
https://www.trsuk.co.uk/shop/m14-x-1-5-stud-conversion.html

20x nuts (I went for black):
https://www.trsuk.co.uk/shop/bimecc-d17.html

They gave me a discount code for 10% off "TRS10"
So total was £46.44 delivered! So that is a great price.

@Big Ben you might want to get onto this, if you are not using spacers you just need what Peter has above (10x 75mm (55mm thread length) and 10x 68mm (48mm thread length) and 20x nuts)

I’ll keep this in mind Suj. What I don’t understand is why the fronts need to be longer on peters car???
Ktec sell a kit that is all same length as do Bimec again all the same length!

It's for OCD really, so the front disc has a thickness, so when you tighten the stud it goes past the disc if you get what I mean?
I'll try and show pics when I get them on.

You can use fixed size all round, but better to have longer fronts.

I think I’m with you now... the studs will stick out uneven amounts front and back! Won’t effect any performance but to a keen eye will be unsymmetrical

Exactly that, and depending on nuts used, bolt activation (how much thread is used) could be a bit lower on the front for example.

I’ve ordered 10 of the slightly longer ones! If it bugs you guys then it’s very likely it’ll bug me!!
Cheers

Just to bump this, is there any guide on what torque setting to use when fitting these?

Will go for Locite 272 based on recommendations.

Quick question guys. I'm thinking about doing a stud & nut conversion. How easy is it to "break" Loctite to remove the studs when changing the discs?
