I realise there's probably a thousand topics about melting wheels but since this is peeling I thought a new topic was relevant.
So anyway my Cup wheel has been melting/blistering from the 10 o clock position all the way round to the 2 o clock position for months now and can be noticeably seen bubbling on particularly hot days which I've found is common and doesn't bother me too much, but today out of the blue after having been fine I noticed at the 3-4 o clock position the leather was actually peeling, little bits flaking off all rubbery and if I try I can actually peel the top layer off like its a sticker or sunburnt skin so just wondered if anyone else has had this rather than the usual melting?
Secondly, I'd always been informed the wheel melts/blisters through heat but today wasn't an overly sunny day and obviously the position that's peeled is our the way of sunlight shining into the car anyway so would sweat cause it? I sweat a bit (not overly though) and the peeled area is usually where I hold the wheel/palm of my hand touches.
Lastly what can be done about it, it's really noticeable and unsightly whereas the blistering wasn't too obvious, I'm sceptical about forking out for a new wheel and changing it over etc incase it happens again.
