STD contisport3s on track?

Who used the oem tyres on track? I know they're heavily road biased but wonder how they'd behave With the abuse of track driving?

Overheating, excessive wear, grip levels etc?

Experiences please

They will overheat if you do too many laps, how many I can't say for sure. If you set the pressures correctly and you don't go crazy the wear isn't bad at all. The grip level is at a very decent level but obviously not at 888.

My front left wore completely thru on an airfield day. It had only done 2-3k road miles prior and i managed the pressures too. I got the impression that the sidewalls just cant cope with the hvy stuff!
Oh and it started off a damp track too!

This is the thing, I'm not massively bothered about pace or lap times on track days but fed up of burning £600 worth of track tyres up in 3 months. However still need a tyre that isn't going to fall short of keeping up.

Airfields are really hard on tyres though. Mine did Oulton, Spa, Donington and they are still fine.

I think they are more than enough for track. Remember JT drives them with standard tyres and he goes faster than you can imagine. It's down to how you load the tyres to get the optimum slip angle.

Anyone reckon my Michelin pilot exaltos will be up to the job? Only want to do two or so trackdays next year??
