197: Squeek

I've recently noticed that the car has developed a squeak at around 2,000-2,500rpm+, at first I thought it was a wheel bearing but when I stopped and pulled over today I revved it slowly with my head out the window and I can still hear the noise. The car is a July 07 so as far as I'm aware the belts don't need done until next July or 70,000 mile ? Currently on 52k. I changed the oil recently and its just gone black but is still running (I know the oil goes black very quickly on the F4R engine), at the time of the squeaking I had no aircon on but again it was only when I revved the engine over 2000 RPM.

anyone any ideas? we have no RS specialists over here and only have main dealers :worried:

without hearing it first hand its hard to tell. but sounds to me like either your aux belt or maybe even a belt idler pulley? try spraying sum wd-40 on the belt then rev it and see what that does

could be an idler bearing mate... i think fred and btm recommend the aux belt and pulley changing at 4 years, rather than the renault recommended 5 years. this could be why... and the age of your car ties in too.
