Squeal from engine bay on start up

Guys,

My car has developed a bit of a squeal (think fan belt type squeal) when it fires up.
It only lasts for a few seconds, but it just makes it sound like an old banger!

Could be because of the cold weather but its a bit annoying.

Any idea of what it might be and how to put a stop to it?

it is proberly the belt mate because its cold the rubber goes stiff causes it too slip check th belt make sure its ok eg no cracks or tears, if its ok spray sum wd40 on to the pulleys the belt runs round should stop it, if it carrys on i would get it checked at a dealer to make sure all your pullys are ok .

I had this on my R27, it was the alternator. Always did it when it was really cold and as it gets worse the squeal goes on for longer. I took it to the dealers several times until they replaced the alternator and it sorted it.

Could be just the belt tho...

They may have lied to me I recon it was just the belt, dealers talk alot of rubbish. Take it somewhere independant
