Cold start engine squeal

Hi All,

My Clio 197 has always squealed when cold. I tend to leave the car on the drive when I first started the car for a couple of minutes before I pull off and for this time there is a squeal.

Last weekend I had the cambelt kit replaced which I assumed would probably fixed the noise but I still get it.

Any ideas? Is this just normal and I have to live with it?

Thanks
James

was the "auxillary" (fanbelt) changed at the same time? it comes as a kit from renault for about £60 - new tensioner and belt...

with poly-v belts they can wear and the grooves bottom out and cause the belt to slip or sometimes they can be out of alignement...

its not a big job on the 197 unlike 172/182 :001_rolleyes:

Yeah it was the kit which was replaced so both belts etc.

Basically get in touch with the garage that did the work then and see what gets said?

there is also a technical spec/note from renault to have the bottom pulley changed when cambelts are due.....

so far not heard of many that have the pulley changed seeing as its £140 :001_rolleyes:
