Specialists in inverness/highland area?

Got my car diagnosed today through my warranty then they eventually said they wernt going to cover it, but anyway i need a lower swivel joint done and was wondering if there is anywhere in particular people go to around the area? There is obviously Renault themselfs but they want £179 for it, would just like to know if there is any competition or other choices in the area thanks.

Well i bought my car from a Mitsubishi dealer, so my warranty is a 3rd party one, autoprotect its called. So i told them my problem then they found it and called Autoprotect and i was told its under wear and tear, quite annoying really i thought it might have been covered.

Thats s###e because if its a wear and tear item why does it get covered by manufacturer warranty for 3 years! Ie - brake pads are a wear and tear item! Poor from the company! Hope you get it sorted bud.

Just threaten them with a 'Sale of goods act' letter. It might work. The car should be in a good condition for a reasonable amount of time and fir for purpose. Nothing to lose posting one of those. There's templates online.

I might try that but its getting so late now :worried: had the car 11 months so I have only got about 3 weeks warranty left, the Mitsubishi dealer have said outright its not covered, but I have booked in to Renault-sport in Inverness and they are giving in a health check for free, im going to pay to get the work done then ring this warranty company myself and tell them that its not on.

Its an Auto-protect Gold Mechanical Warranty, so I just don't understand what it covers? They refused to pay for a knackered brake calliper, now this, what does it actually cover?!

I might just have to bite the bullet and pay up.

I've had similar issues but only had my car two months and the dealer caved in after a letter. The warranties aren't worth the paper they're written on. Having had the car 11 months will make it all the more difficult for 'wear and tear ' but it's a new car then? I take it you've read thoroughly through what's covered in the book? Bite the bullet and perhaps send a recorded letter politely asking for some of the money?

Also I use a breakers and im guessing you'll be looking at half that cost Renault quoted. Have a Google for Renault specialists breakers in your area.

Yeah, well its on a 10 plate anyway, but the cars been a nightmare. I might just do that, a nice polite letter first to make them feel guilty then if that doesn't work I will just go in angry. Im done with the Mitsubishi dealer anyway when the warranty is over so ive got nothing to lose I suppose.

Maybe try this out? Struggling to find a breakers but even if there is one a few miles out, you'd still save money using them/ against petrol costs.

Yeah might try it out thanks for that. The highlands of Scotland is pretty sparse for Renault-sport parts and breakers, quite annoying.

I'm confused. Have you got a Renault or Mistubishi? You could get the part delivered from a breakers?

Ah my bad, I have got a Clio 200 haha, I bought it from a Mitsubishi dealer because it was part-ex. But the Mitsubishi dealer still provided me with 1 years warranty through a 3rd party company called Auto-protect. I could get the parts from a breakers but for a lower swivel bearing, I think it might be better getting new.

Yeah maybe but if the car part you need is in decent condition it's fine. I'd defo get a Renault specialist to do the work, not Renault themselves. What they on like £80/ hour or more?

Yeah that's true, ill probably buy new for piece of mind though. There is a Renault-Sport in Inverness that is where im booked in to, they are doing a free health check first but then im going to see what the prices are. Hopefully not quite £80 an hour!
