Spanner light on + check vehicle

Hi all,

So back with a new issue on my car.

First thing I'm gonna say is that the car it's a 14 plate but only have 20000miles as I use the company can during the week.



So everything started 2 weeks ago when I went for my mot and when started the car I had the orange spanner light on plus the dashboard said check vehicle.

When got to the garage I asked them to check the fault as well (they not Renault,I usually take it to Renault for service but is quite far from where I live)

I was told that the fault was due to low voltage and after that was cleared it didn't come back on.



After few days I went to take the car again and light plus warning were on again,the car doesn't behave any different when the fault is on,

Drove it for about 30 mins parked it up for about one hour and then went to take it and spanner plus fault disappeared,so I thought great it must be the battery since this one is 7 years old.



So got new battery,replaced it and initially the fault came on but left the car running for 30 mins and fault cleared itself again but since Saturday the fault is not going off anymore.



I checked the voltage (battery is exactly the same as the original one as I got in touch with varta to double check)

Voltages are 12v when car is off then with engine on at 2000rpm I get 14v and with headlights,AC and radio on,with engine running at 2000rpm again I get 13.7 to 14 volts so I'm guessing both battery and alternator are fine?



Any of you experienced the issue before?

Mmmh no,where can I find the fault codes?

You need to get them read with a scanner through the obd port.

Ah ok,i was thinking to get one of these scanner that are on the internet to possibly erase the fault too till when I will take it to Renault but I don't want to damage the car so not really sure if to get one

You wont damage the car by erasing faults, but you also cant do it with a cheap obd tool, only with a clip or the fastchip reader as far as i know

has it got stop/start system?

wondering if its got a bms (battery management system) and it needs coding for a "new" battery

Thanks for the replies guys,thanks to Beany who told me that there is a Renault sport specialist where we live (it's about 3 miles from my house)
So rang up today and booked in diagnostic for next week and then they will fix it for me.
So I won't be messing around with the car,better to take it to someone who knows what is doing.
I will keep you updated on what happens after the diagnostic.

@Foxspeed no,if you mean the feature that switches the engine on or off when for example stopping or driving away from traffic or traffic lights.

Right so got the car back yesterday and what it was wrong was the low voltage battery sensor,
Replaced and calibrated and all good now light has gone off.
Good thing it was only a sensor but it was 192£ all together,
Still better than a new alternator like I was starting to think though
