Had it for around a year, much better than the old box. You can record 5 things while watching a 6th, and record far more things without having to worry about the HD size too. It takes a little while to get used to as it's very different in terms of the menus layouts etc but I wouldn't go back. And we have a second box in the bedroom which with the boxes being wireless is great.

Is the upstairs box wireless or does it need a cable from the dish still?

It's connected via Wi-Fi. You have to buy a sky q mini box which is £20.

We had ours installed on Sunday, part of the renewal deal involved the new Q box, but not the fancy 2TB one - have better things to spend £199 on!
It’s so much more modern and a doddle to use, still doesn’t help me find anything decent to watch though, so the novelty has already worn off.
Can’t go wrong with Sky though, especially with having a legacy tariff where I get F1 and HD for free

I left Sky a couple of years ago and it feels great not paying them a penny. At the moment I have Youview and also a Freesat box - mainly use the Freesat box for recording F1 and BTCC etc...

I've seen Sky Q at a friends house and the interface looks good but the content it still the same at the end of the day and going through Sky your paying a fortune for not a lot of great TV.

1. Content - huge amount of content which is easily accessible.
2. Interface - Once you get used to it the interface is top notch. I've seen freeview interfaces and the difference is huge. Sky is intuitive, smooth snd glitch free.
3. Boxes - Had it about a year and it's obviously on constantly. Only had to reboot it about 3 or 4 times.
4. Quiet - Had boxes in the past that have had noisy fans.
5. Minibox - having the ability to just plug in a mini-box in any room for an additional one off payment of £99 is good.

Downside - it ain't cheap!!!

Basically summed it up for me.

Although I paid £30 for the minibox.

I know recordable isn't niche to sky but the way it operates is so easy and playback is a doddle!!

The interfaces on the Youview and Freesat are ok/good but not as good as Sky. They do have a nice function of being able to go backwards in the guide and play things straight from the guide.

My main annoyance is the size of items in the guide. You can only view around 5-6 channels at once. Sky have this perfect.
