Renault can reprogram vehicle computer systems to suit specific driver requirements?

I don't know if you guys know this, click on the link http://renault-me.com/services/maintenance.html in the bottom of the page it reads

"Only Renault dealerships have registered factory Technicians (COTECHS) who are continually trained by Renault service division trainers to perform all factory recommended servicing and repair operations on Renault vehicles. As an authorised service outlet, COTECHS use specialised Renault service tools such as “Clip”. Clip is the latest diagnostic tool from Renault, capable of diagnosing onboard computer incidents. Clip also enables a COTECH to reprogram vehicle computer systems to suit specific driver requirements such as:

• Electronic fuel injection
• Pro-Active automatic transmission
• Electronic ABS
• Electronic immobilizer & security features"

So what do you guys think about this idea of reprogramming our cars to suit our requirements? like changing the fuel mixture of the electronic fuel injection to get a performance gain. Also I sent an e-mail to Renault to give us more information about this.

*Update* I got a reply from Renault, nothing really informative.

Dear Sir,

Clip is a Renault tool used for diagnosis and also reprogramming the units of the vehicle when some parts have been replaced.
Reprogramming can also be used for customizing the vehicle according to the market requirement (ex: speed alarm for speed above 120km/h in the GCC).

At your disposal for any further information,

Best regards

Renault UK have a part on their website where you can book a service with their highly trained technicians.

They take the booking, give you the wrong price and don't tell the flipping dealer to expect you on the day you booked.

Then you re-book and some highly trained retard who you are paying £200 to carry out an oil change ****s your wiper blade during it's "inspection".

So no I would NOT let these monkeys loose on something that could end up killing me.

sorry but they cant mess with abs and esp etc - it not set up like that - its all locked down in the ecu - they can only re-flash the memories to correct software errors

can you amagine the legal implications if they changed the settings for your abs or esp and you have a big accident !!!!

so basically ure saying its a renault re-map . . . . i doubt it but i would be interested in seeing the outcome . . . . . they dont have rolling roads at dealers so it wouldnt be a custom remap

I wouldn't trust Renault (tech or not) anywhere near my car anymore. Maybe a generalisation but the word "chimps" springs to mind.

'Would you mind letting me have my wheel locking nut back please'

'What makes you think we have it sir?'

'Because you just replaced my discs and pads you kin chimp'

I think you meant to say "Because you have just given me an invoice for changing my discs and pads..." if they are anything like some Ford dealers then no guarentee they actually did it!
