Rear break help !?

My rear breaks were binding on the discs so I took the callipers apart and followed the guide in the how to section, as well as cleaning the pads up I wound the piston in a little bit, is this going to make any difference to the breaks binding on the disc , and how far should I wind it in ? Just one other thing can the piston be wound all the way out and then cleaned and then wound in ?
Cheers guys Rich

You don't need to wind unless you change the pads but it won't affect it.

If they are binding the look at the lip of the pad that sits on the calliper. Make sure it shows no signs of corrosion/bubbling as this will also cause the pad not to move off the disk/binding.

My rears were binding and it was the handbrake cable sticking in its sleeve. New handbrake cable, job sorted. If you push the handbrake actuator on the caliper back, the disc should now spin freely, this indicates the cable is starting to seize in its inner.

also make sure the handbrake is adjusted correctly - ie that the handbrake arms on the rear calipers go fully back on to their stops!
