Radiator Support

Ok thanks.

I guess the standard cross brace bolts to the standard subframe?

Did the cup race cars have a cross brace, or am I making that up? Did that bolt to the radiator support, or just to the subframe?

Part of me did wonder this too actually. It's slightly annoying that it gets in the way of removing the lower arms.

Does it have any other structural benefits other than just supporting the rad?

I don´t see how it has any structural benefits/integrity considering there is a bumper bar above it bolted to the front face of the chassis legs.

A simple aluminium bar with the rad mount and 2 holes on either side to bolt it up would do the trick and get rid of the legs (which from what I can see, have zero purpose). It would also solve any of this rust rubbish also.

I suspect @RSRowe is correct when he says it's designed to hit the subframe in the event of a big impact. Maybe it helps push the main subframe back and down, away from the occupants.

Likewise. Mines sat in the unit gathering dust since my mate borrowed it to do Cadwell as his was broke.
13th Feb was last time I used it:astonished:

With the price of the soon to go rusty replacements it's pretty tempting to make/bodge one !

Need to get mine off again and have a look and measure
