Paintwork on Matt Door Trim

I have a 2010 Cup with matt black plastic door trims and wing mirrors.

I would like to change the wing mirrors (or at least the top cover part) and the door trims to gloss black. Also I would like to change the silver Renault Sport door bullets to gloss black.

I know that I could pull off the parts and spray them myself - but I just don’t have the skills.

I have read through many posts here have seen a few people referring to SprayShack which I guess is no longer a post and spray service - can anyone recommend a post and spray service or a decent service in Essex?

Does anyone know where I can buy gloss black door bullets? I have seen carbon fibre ones for sale but I just want gloss black.

If you paying to have them painted the black plastic ones are textured might be easier to buy new caps that are smooth ready for painting painting the door cards for me is a bit far buy used ones there is two types of hands the 197/200 std cards look better than the hard plastic cap ones

Just throwing in an idea - I have nothing to do since work dried up and being in lockdown so I decided to take my bullets, badges, door handles and rear diffuser off last week and spray them myself. I had a few cans of primer, gloss black and lacquer so worth a shot. They came out really well, my advice is, take your time when taking the parts off and give them a good clean in a bowl of warm soapy water before you spray them. Just so you know, I'm not a professional in the slightest, just watched a lot of YouTube guides on how to spray using cans and get the best finish etc.

Here are the results:

It's also worth noting, I put each part on a bit of cardboard and then sprayed them in a shed on a table. Then I left them to dry. Primer ~1 hour, base coat ~1 hour, second coat ~6 hours then lacquer I left for a little over 24hr to harden before I refitted.

I only used cheap spray paint from Wilkinsons too - shoot me down all you like, the paint is actually half decent quality and is very cheap!

Thanks both.

turkie - I was talking about the door trims on the outside of the door, but probably did not make that clear.

Frank - I think I would probably just mess it up. I might buy some paint and see if it comes out any good. Your photos look impressive.

Honestly, the prep and space you paint in are the most important parts. Spraying with a can is super easy and patience is key.

Saves you a few quid and if you have some spare time on your hands, it'll give you something to do!
