oil sump plugs

I think the gearbox ones are normally magnetic. Never used the sump one, they seem to be cheaper than i remember them too so maybe worth a try.

I really dont think its that complicated, if you want to collect the little metallic particles that may be floating in your oil (if your paranoid then i wouldnt advise it :001_wub:smile: then get one, if your not that fussed and treat the F4R to regular oil changes then stick with OEM. All my opinion of course

What the engine block has to do with the gb casing? You were talking about the gearbox .......
So i asked about that

So i asked about that

it said sump & gearbox magnetic sump plugs....post no1 :s

as for gearbox it has a magnet in it! motana said "i think" I confirmed it has one as I have stripped gearboxes down....

What are kidding me?
Lets make it simple :
You said there is a magnet ( but in its casing!) so i asked if the mag is down there how can i clean the dirt and shavings out of the gearbox?

If your cleaning dirt and shavings from the engine or gearbox then you will know before that stage there is something wrong. Anything suspended will come out with the oil and will be in the engine oil filter or oil pump gauze as for the gearbox the magnet is inside the gearbox casing and will pick up steel but a magnet will not pickup bearing and non magnetic materials so servicing and looking at the used oil and filters is always best. Its more likely that the magnetic part will come out of the sump bug your looking at and wreck the engine and you will have all the dirt and shavings in one place then.

My point is ,if there is a mag inside the gb casing so it will be stuck there ,cuz no way to take it out .
So what i was asking is ,is how to take it out ( if possible) simple as that

By taking the gearbox off and cleaning it. And if you're that anal about a few little filings, you're insane. I mean, how much metal filings are you expecting to be stuck to the magnet? Seems to me you're worrying about nothing.

And to answer your original question, the sump plug will be fine. Again, what's the worst that can happen.

No I think your winding people up that are trying to help each other out as far as the magnet goes as long as it collects and holds any bits from recirculating by the time it can't take any more or needs cleaned you will have a failure that you will know about. Most bits will stay with the oils and come out during an oil change, Your biggest chance of failure will be the driver over revving during gear changes, forcing or missing the gear changes and the other is servicing looking after engine mounts, hitting pot holes/ track kerbing, hitting deep puddles with the accelerator full on and general lack of sympathy for the mechanical systems of the car these will kill a gearbox long before you find bits in the oil. Like foxspeed (super moderator) that works on the Renault gearboxes says it already has a magnet inside then putting a second one on is pointless a good or attentive driver will know and feel something is wrong and deal with it. Gearboxes are sealed for life units the oil should under normal conditions never need changed you are only changing the oil to make sure the right amount is there inside (why you should always measure what comes out) and because the TL4 Renault sport gearboxes have a bad rep. my personal view is there are more bad drivers than bad gearboxes. Buy a magnetic sump plug if you want and fit it open the gearbox and clean the inside magnet if you want, I don't think it's worth posting any more on this subject.

Dunno why you keept posting ,i said alright but still thanks.
you mentioned some good points! [emoji4] [emoji106] [emoji106] [emoji106]
And no doubt about fox's knowledge !
