Oil in Spark plug and oil leaking from throttle body side..

They do make a bit of an odd noise for the first few seconds after starting when cold. Mine isn't quite as odd/obvious as yours but I can't say I've ever done it with the bonnet up... I suppose they'll all be slightly different anyway. Hopefully you'll set your mind at rest tomorrow with the other one and if anything does develop further then at least you've done the right thing and it's them who haven't at that point. Fingers crossed nothing will get to that stage though.

Willis, mine is making that odd noise all the time lol.

I went to the dealership this evening. And spoke to the tech that work on my car.

Looked at another 197 on the forecourt. The tapping was there, but was not as loud as mine

The oil leak picture on page 2 of this thread. He said" Oh i found some slight misting on the engine"

The tapping is normal.

And when i come to speak to him about the spark plug / oil issue. He had not got a clue! He did not know about it what so ever.
I had to point out what the problem was and where it was!

Best thing to do mate.

I had an issue with Lookers Altrincham just after buying mine... She went in for a free ''Summer Check'' about 3 weeks and 400Miles after I'd picked her up and I was told the rear brake pads were ''critically worn and in urgent need of attention'' and that all four of my tyres were ''close to needing changing''. Despite the tyres all being 5.0-6.0mm and the rear pads have at least half of the meat left on them.

They then quoted me £388 to fit new rear pads. They'd put the part numbers for front brakes on the advisory note. Needless to say, a quick call to RUK and two days later Lookers Altrincham took my car in for a free set of rear pads AND discs, with a babbling apology about ''an honest mistake when pricing the parts up on the system''... I asked them how many old dears had they scammed doing that and the service manager couldn't look me in the eye.

Lookers Altrincham lost the place a few months later... Poor service and too many complaints.

Haha.

I know Steve from R-sport has had bad dealings with Orpington. And i have had previous problems with them too.

Hi,

Thanks for the info.

Saying all this I have had people tell me the tapping video's are not normal what so ever. And some people have said it is fine. ;/

Still waiting to here from RUK. See what they come back with..

Last update.

Just had a call from Adrian at RUK.

Orpington said:

1. The tapping noise above is perfectly normal. 100%
2. The fault with the spark / plug oil - They could not see any oil down the plug oils. It would of drained out when I first took it out on the Saturday)
3. Knocking noise they could not find...

Case closed..

(I will be going to two techs in Dartford on the 28th) i will get them to check.
