Noisy gearbox - anybody know a reputable box rebuilder

I have a 2012 Clio 200. Gearbox was replaced under warranty when second gear crunched. Car now out of warranty and gearbox making a strange noise when barely under load (so when just gentle throttle cruising at say 60mph). Gear change is fine so could be bearings or something to do with preload.

Can anybody recommend a good box rebuild company that I can talk to.

It might be worth changing the gearbox oil first and see if that helps before spending a small fortune on getting the box rebuilt.

Already changed oil - that was my first thought.

they were new but "shop soiled" ie casings were a bit crusty...

Personally i'd prefer a rebuilt unit with uprated parts, rather than a brand new Cadbury's version.

It'll depend what it needs mate. The average rebuild price on a jc5 (I rebuild these for a lot of guys on cliosport) is about £500...TL4 stuff is a bit cheaper than the jc5 bits though. I've been doing my homework!

Yeah I've done a good number of jc5's mate, but only 1 TL4 currently. Had the NDO apart too.

Are the fees similar to those on Cs.net?
