I got gritted the other day and the crack does have a tiny chip in it, so I assume I got the chip from the grit and the cold has turned it into a crack?

That could sound about right mate, yeah bit of a bummer, insurance cover you on a free windscreen repair/replacement?

So gutted for you mate.

I had a chip in my windscreen once, some guy from RAC came and filled the chip in, then within 3 hours massive crack.

The guy left me his phone number, and said "£30 for a new windscreen - don't do it through your insurance, I can get them cheap"

Stolen, obviously lol

Gutted mate, yes the chip can turn into a crack if the car hits sudden bumps in the road etc, and with wider ranges of temp changes, it can stress it more.

I'd been out the night before so I assume car hot on inside, cold on outside did the trick!
