It has been a while, almost 20 years to be exact (I used to have the username TRC1418 but have lost access to my old account!).
I’ve just bought my third racing blue 197 at the ripe age of 37 lol
My first one at 19 y/o was an ex press/demo car that suffered an accident with damage to the passengers side, I repaired this and had it for around 3/4 years. The second I bought and sold within a year in my mid twenties, again; both racing blue - but this one I don’t think you could pay me to sell it lol I couldn’t be happier.
It's a 2009 (09) with 81K on the clock, I bought from a couple on Cornwall who were really great and honest sellers. It needs a couple of bits:
But overall, this is a really great example with next to no modifications on it - I paid the amazing price of £1,850 (still astounded by this)
I’ll be doing subtle changes which include fitting the Projector headlights, Speedline alloys in gloss black, Recaro's, re trimming the steering wheel, fitting yellow seatbelts and MAYBE replacing the clocks with the yellow dial 200 clocks. I’m also going to change the belt, waterpump, dephaser etc (it’s been done at 34K but was almost a decade ago). Both my last RB’s had factory auto levelling xenons, this one doesn’t which is a bit meh but certainly nothing to grumble about.
Overall, it's going to remain pretty stock with 90% of the bits being OEM upgrades. I don’t think I’ll drive it TOO often, maybe just weekends or shows etc - but the highlight so far was taking my one year old son out in it yesterday afternoon

- The obvious and main issue for the sale being the Gearbox crunching into third (which I’m sure we’re all familiar with)
- MOT extremely close to expiry (now sorted)
- Common Subframe Radiator support rot (now sorted)
- New front discs & pads (now sorted)
- The AC condenser will need changing as I think has leaks (now sorted)
- Interior needs a refresh seats are torn etc.
- Headlights need a refresh or changing
- The passengers side door has had a smart repair which isn’t great and is slightly off colour - not in a rush to rectify.
