MOT Advisories - Advice needed please.

Just had the yearly service and Mot done on the R27, easily passed but did come with a couple of advisories.

Just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of what exactly will need doing, rough cost etc... It's not urgent but might as well start buying parts when I have spare money so when it comes to it there isn't as much expense.

The advisories were:

Play in steering rack inner joint - Nearside Front (Is it worth buying the 200 rack from RPD ? or is the part cheap enough to buy separate)

Front wheel bearing has slight play - Offside front

Thanks for everyone's time.

Matt

If it's the inner trackrod, then it is this:

If it is play on the rack itself, then the bush below.

Someone on this forum found this bush (it fits Clio 197 racks too, says in the description), looks pretty straightforward to change too (as rack change is a) pricey and b) labour intensive due to the subframe removal / drop).

Front wheel bearing has slight play - Offside front

Someone again posted a SNR bearing from ebay, but I found it cheaper here:

You're a star mate, thank you!

I have recently had the track rod ends done when my ball joints were replaced - So I think it might be the bush.. I'll check my invoice and pop in to see my mechanic.

Both don't seem too expensive so that makes me happy, he said they're both fine for now but I like to be organised!

Once again thanks for your help!

No problem mate. I like doing research on bits I read about on here, so I can mentally prepare for when (not if haha) they go wrong.

Yeah they are pretty cheap bits luckily and not "that" labour intensive.

No problem at all, why forums are good, they'll save you money / stop you having your pants down with garage costs and quotes.

The inner track rod ends are a common failure on these dude. I would suspect it's that which has a problem. Track rod ends usually refer to the end that mounts to the hub, so I imagine these are what you had replaced previously.

Do a pair if I were you, always best to carry out repairs in pairs on steering and suspension. I just replaced these myself and they are simple, but I advise you buy a track rod removal tool as access is tight. I did a lot of homework to try and find an aftermarket alternative at a cheaper price and could not source anything, even from TRW who make the original Renault part, they simply don't sell the same part on the aftermarket.

Great stuff mate, thank you for that. I have put these in my watched items so I can refer back to them later.

Going to call in the see my mechanic soon, then I can double check with him that I'd be ordering the right part that was the advisory.

Thanks again!
