Medium sized diesel

Right my mom wants rid of her shogun and she wants a medium sized car, a economical diesel for about 6-7k what does everyone recommend? Btw she doesn't want a megane as she had one and didn't really like it!

Mk 2 Leon also. Although the immediate thing to say is a Focus, every man and his dog has one! Lol! I'm not sure the new Astra would be in her price range yet and the old ones are starting to look old now, but the engines are frugal and don't kick out some bad power. A mate of mine has an Auris which is nice, but a bit boring. He has the 2.2 d, which he is seeing about 32mpg in, so not great. I wouldn't touch anything Pug, but a Citroen C4 wouldn't be too bad?
