my driveshaft clip came off on my o s f outer joint so had to remove the wheels to fill with grease and fit new clip was also going to remove front and rear pads due to rears sticking on in mornings. i had a new hub assembly fitted 3 month ago and the guy who nipped the n s f wheel up overtightened it!! so i tried to get i off with locking wheel key- destroyed both keys so had to chisel it off! anyone had this problem ??

Yes the keys Renault give you are pish. Also its worth noting you wont get a replacement key unless you can wait 6-9 weeks and also have the 6(from memory!) digit code on a peace of paper.

I just bought new ones which took 3 days to arrive and paid some very friendly chap £20 to remove all 4 locking nuts in about 5 minutes... Always only tighten them by hand using a socket and if a garage does tightne them with a gun always use a gun to undo them - I believe its something about the torque being even or something..

Its worth noting that the new ones only arrive with 1 key now! Not both sizes. Its quite funny as the key they now arrive with does not actually fit the tyre iron that comes with the Clio.. Smart move there eh?

The alternative is to buy aftermarket locking nuts.

Locknuts

I jut took all the locknuts off! Your right they are pish. Tried them with every gun in my work mate, you would not believe how tight these were!!

I'll have to check mine now. The guy that changed my tyres last time tightened the wheel nuts so tight I bent the big bar (a Draper Expert one about 2 1/2 ft long) I was using to try to get them off.

On a side note what size are they? 19mm??

when you torque the wheels up use a lower figure for the lock nuts....

normal bolts = 130/140nm (depending which manual you have)

lock bolts - 100nm
