Knocking noise from front brakes

Hi

Wondering if anyone can help. I have an "07 197. When I reverse and apply the brakes there is a clicking/ knocking noise from the front brakes. When I set off again moving forward and apply the brakes I get the same noise. I have taken it back to the dealership and they have told me this is normal as the brakes have some "play".

Has anyone else had this issue? and is this normal.

Ps French Car Show was awesome.
