Instrument cluster modification

Hey looking to change the LEDs in my instrument cluster to white, I feel I have the skills to carry out the task but just to be sure I would like to try it out on an other dash.
I plan on buying some dials for a 1.2 or 1.4 clio mk3 for around £30 so if I stuff it up it's no big deal (if it works I'll put them up for sale)

Question is are all dials created equal? Can I plug a non RS dash into my RS connectors just to test my mod has worked the only difference I can see between them is the shift bleep and obviously the limits of revs and speed.
If someone has a picture of the rear of the dials that would be fantastic also so I can see if there comparable before making the commitment

Cheers mate it's more the plug I need to see than anything else really
other option is just buy a 197 dash and then convert that, slightly more expensive but then one of you lovely guys and gals could have a white speedo
