Hydraulic lifters - Engine rebuild

Hiya all,

My Meglio project that has been going on for over a year, after every component required replacing, its finally getting there. I've had the 225 head rebuilt and am looking to reinstall it shortly. My question is regarding the hydraulic lifters, I'm no mechanic and I've never had to deal with these, before installing, do I have to submerge then in oil and squeeze them to pre-load them before I install them?

Are they new or used? Normal recommendation is to soak in diesel if you can ‘squeeze’ them however tbh you can just fit them and wait for the tapping to stop.

They are used, apart from one that was found to be tits. Cheers for the response.

I would replace with new, especially if one has failed! Cheap from auto doc
