...is the standard cat converter attached to the manifold?

Just thinking of getting a new exhaust and can't fathom out how the 2 sections separate. Doesn't look like the standard flange with 2 bolts like other marques.

Anyone?

Think you've gotta cut it, otherwise youve gotta dismantle the underside of your car. there are 2 cats as well. If you wanna remove the front cat that is immediately after the manifold u need to drop the front subframe.

So to fit a sports cat and a catback exhaust you have to drop the front subframe? Surely not

No! You have to cut the standard one out unless you wanna drop the REAR subframe. Your aftermarket exhaust will come in sections and can be installed with the rear subframe in place.

The standard exhaust does not come out in a 1er without the rear subframe being dropped. Needs cut.
