Hi again.

hi folks. I'm a paid up member now and all going according to plan I pick my new Clio 200 up on Wednesday. Im very excited! But! I have read they have certain issues and could benefit from specialist attention.
I don't have much faith in main dealers and I would like to deal directly with someone who cares and knows their shit!
I need someone who knows the best options for when the gearbox syncros fail, how to set the car up properly and how I like it.

I live in chorley Lancashire and closer to there the better but am prepared to travel a little for the right service.

All comments greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
Rich

Welcome to the club. Don't assume that the synchros are necessarily going to go! It's a bit of a lottery really & plenty of folk have no problem with it. Enjoy your car.

Welcome to the forum, Rich!

As above, don't assume that the synchros are going to let you down - many, many members on here have gearboxes that are the same since the factory, with no issues at all. It is always a good idea to have a contingency plan in place just in case the 'box does need work, however don't go into ownership thinking that it's a ticking time bomb.

As for a local garage you can trust and rely on, +1 for Park Street Motors in Salford. Excellent garage, I can fully recommend them.

If you can get the boxout and to me, I can sort it. Assuming it's the common synchros, so 3rd/4th?

Cost wise you're looking at £250 using genuine renault parts. I'm in Lichfield Staffordshire, so only down the m6 really.

That's great news thanks. Would be no probs for me to get the box out.
Hopefully it will be fine and I won't have issues but I like to have a plan for if it does go wrong.
