200: Good result at my dealer...

Well I am just back from my nearest and I think the only RenaultSport Specialist dealer in Northern Ireland. The car was going in to get a knocking sound diagnosed and also for them to have a look at my recently melting steering wheel. After 40 minutes they came out and let me know that they will be replacing both front ball joints and fitting a brand new steering wheel all covered by warranty, really happy with that outcome as it was totally hassle/arguement free.

Quite a contrast to the last Renault dealer I took the car to last week, "we can hear the knocking you mean sir, but we have no idea where it is coming from sorry".

Just thought I would spread the news of good customer service

Any ideas how much that warranty bill is likely to total? Ball joints and a steering wheel for a 200?

Car only has 20k on the clock

Thanks

Well to Joe public Renault won't sell individual ball joints, only complete hubs! Ball joints from r.sport in Wimbledon are about £50 and hubs from Renault are about £330. Steering wheel is about £150-£200 I think! Depending on what they've replaced, anywhere from £250 to £750, but bear in mind at trade price it will be considerably less.

Good result anyway!

Quality! This is how it should be.

As deadmau5 said the ball joints are £50 each but the labour involved is crazy. I just had both mine replaced, the car was in the garage for about 5 hours!

Were did you bring it too OiNK? Charles Hurst Boucher or Shelbourne Motors Portadown? Both are RenaultSport specialists. Personally in the past I've used CH and not had an issue with getting anything from them warranty wise (though they did order the wrong part one time, a seatbelt) and we're good to deal with.

Shelbourne Paddy, I have had multiple awful experiences with Hursts, they ordered the wrong part for my car 3 times in a row once!

I have used Shelbourne twice now and they have been great both times.

Been thinking of trying Shelbourne myself. Though I have to go past about 4 other Renault garages to get to them and I've got a big discount of my next service from CH due to them ordering the wrong seatbelt when I broke and needed replaced under warranty. Decisions, decisions.

My courtesy car

Nah it is a 1.2, really dislike the interior, shiney plastic crap everywhere, and it feels massive...

Gosh, with that level of service and the crap service I've had from Renault in the past I might drive to NI next time to save some money!!

It is an ok car, it drives nicely, but the interior is just awful, and the new centre console sticks out like a sore thumb, build quality seems good, but it is fugly!!

Sounds like you've had a right bonus....think some Renault dealers over here should learn a thing or two judging by what you've got from them!

Yeah, to be fair I really couldn't say a bad word about this particular dealer, went in to have my knocking noise inspected and complained about my peeling steering wheel. Waited in the dealership, 45mins later they come out, inform me the car requires new ball joints both sides and will cover a brand new steering wheel 100%. No arguing required.

Great dealer experience, if only the car didn't require such attention with only 20k on the clock and being 3 years old :worried:

Got a call from the dealer, apparently as they suspected initially, the ball joints or something to do with them has totally siezed so they are putting on a brand new hub or carrier or something both sides as well as the ball joints?

That sound right? What am I actually getting lol?

Sounds about right. Renault don't sell the ball joint separately from the hub (well not to the general public anyway) so it sounds like they are replacing the whole Perfohub unit.
