gearbox oil

can anyone recomend me a good gearbox oil for the 197?

how much does it take? around 2litres?

i used valvoline fully synthetic oil

have a look on opie oils website - plenty of choice and a discount :thumbup:

the 5 speed takes 2.5l so its strange the 6 speed lakes 2.

think i will drop the oil next week

I got the fuchs one from opie, seems fine and cold start is better (Although not perfect)

the 6 speed is very compact gearbox and like a lot of things these days will take the minimum amount of oil

i dropped the oil out and it had 1.8ltrs in so i put 1.8 litres back in - check the level a few weeks later and it was well up on the filler hole

as for grade stick to the 75-90 or what ever it states but go for a quality synthetic oil - they always flow better and provide better protection whilst still reducing drag8)

Fantastic oil! ... and i've had some that cost twice as much that weren't as good for a syncro gearbox!

i think its a "sealed for life" box as such - but wouldnt do any harm changing the oil

I've changed it @ ~30kkm. Next change will be @ 60kkm.

I bought redline MT-90 75w90 oil 3 quarts, hope it is ok.

I have looked on opie oils website mate.

When you say discount is that only available if you are a paid member on here?
I only ask as i'm looking at getting some gearbox oil. Swaying more towards Millers oil.
