Was having a play around with the gearbox heatshield yesterday when changing the oil and filter on my 197. It seems very loose and i was wondering if it is causing a noise i have when off throttle coasting down from 4k to about 2k, disappears when i dip the clutch and is more noticable in lower gears. It also seems much louder when hot.
Anyway i couldnt figure out how it was attached as it is so tight behind the engine, can anyone suggest how to mount it more securely? Is it a problem if i fully remove it and drive the car to see if this is the root of the problem?
