Gearbox Bearings

My 2008 08 plate GW has developed a slight whining noise, and i believe its the gearbox bearings, as the same noise occurred in my mini, which inevetibly caused the gearbox to go.
The problem i have is that my warranty expired in April, what do you think my options are?? other than to pay for it all myself?

Maybe talk to RUK mate, although they will probably tell you to take it to a dealers first. Good luck!

if its "slight" then dont worry too much

maybe worth draining the gearbox oil and checking it for swarf

and then fill it with something better than the renault spec oil in it!!!

mine has a slight whine

the gearboxes have more problems with crunching into gear rather than blowing up

I have the same problems with the bearings of the gearbox mainshaft. It was happened on the last waranty week. So, my renault dealler trying to chenge bearings for more then one month, and didn't promise me that, it will help. If not, only after the chenging bearings they will chenge hole gearbox. Today im driving a relief vehicle Reanault LOGAN (DACIA - 83hp=)). and waitig for the news.

Ok, thanks for all comments. I think i will take it to the stealers and see what they have to say. I may have to take out a strategically timed extended warranty.
