Foam - under carpet soundproofing

Hi.

Does anyone know a part number for this or roughly how much it costs?

As you all are probably aware and sick of my water leak story. Charles Hurst threw mine away because it was water damaged and smelly! Then when I took it back to get replaced.... they put in random material that looks like it would come as padding in an Amazon package!

Considering I only got the car on the 30th December and all this started at the end of january, should I be demanding that the replace the 'crap' they've put in it with the genuine underlay?

This is how they gave me it back after the 2nd time in with the water problem..

How it is after 'putting new foam in for me'

This part is hollow.

I'd expect them to put back in proper car insulation... whether it's What Renault use or just a third party generic insulation... either way it doesn't look good with gaps present!

If no luck with the dealers have a try st a breakers.

I agree with Chris, they should be replacing it with the proper insulation, especially with them being a Renault dealer! They were probably hoping you wouldn't notice the replacement stuff...

Exactly what I think. they're just looking rid of me but I don't think I'm being unreasonable. only had it 3 months and its not as I bought it now!

Its more a matter of principle in my eyes. They own a Renault shop just up the road and they fill it with random 'shit' they find lying about. And how much is it really going to cost for a bit of foam to a company that own Renault and thousands of other stores?

You need to tell us the full story about this Clio it looks like they Stanley knifed the carpet in the passanger foot well did they cut it open instead of properly removing the carpets I would call that totally unacceptable and the foam can be dried out it's designed not to smell and take some water, I had a big flood in the drivers foot well in the Clio 172 the water in the sills built up and spilled into the foot well parked pointing downhill the water was up to the pedals I removed the carpets in the front and foam underlay to dry and drove the car a few weeks with the metal floor until I figured out the problem which was behind the plastic front inner arch lining grit built up until it was level with an inspection hole and the water from the scuttle was running down into the sill the drain holes needed unblocked due to damaged jacking points to empty the sills. Not one penny would I spend to fix this they are treating you like a mug I'm guessing it was the used car end not the Renault Dealership end of Hurst's because if it was the Renault end I would be sending photos to Renault UK anyway if they knifed the carpets as a repair you have rights and as much as you know the foam that was put in could be packing foam and not fit for that purpose (fire risk). How much value would a car loss if it had the carpets cut like that, the foam should be the same as all Clio's of that type but the carpets might be different colours or styles of finish. Again if the carpets have been knifed that's a cowboy repair and trading standards should be involved I would have killed someone and made them pay for a proper repair to be done by someone else with used parts as a compromise

Thanks for the reply. I'll try write up a full story of the shit I've went through with them later and will tag you in it for a read. though it is a joke. almost making me hat the clio after 4 weeks of ownership but its misplaced anger because its not the clio's water leak that's gave me shit. its the drama behind it all and inconvenience with them!

I'd be fooking livid mate! Really sorry to see you're going through this. God damn!

WOW ! What a bunch of Clowns so far.

Write up your 'story'. Let the Clio fraternity see it and give their opinions.

Then direct the seller here to see what effect their little money-saving stunts are having on the reputation of Charles Hurst........

Post 1 in that link is pretty much the scenario (dunno why the link is jumping to post 2).
I wrote that up shortly after I said I was going to in the "soundproofing" thread lol
