Exhaust Banging on the Rear Axle. HELP!

Evening All,

So I have recently taken delivery of my new Spax Coilovers and looking to get them fitted over the next couple of weeks or so. But first I need to sort out the fitment of my exhaust. It's a Ktec Catback and when I go over some larger dips/small pot holes in the road it bangs on what I think is the axle, i'm sure once I lower the car it will be sitting on the axle constantly. Looking at it, it looks like the exhaust could do with sitting quite a lot higher which i assume will most definitely sort my problem. Anyone ever had this problem???

First option is Powerflex exhaust hangers just to stiffen it up a little. (I am going to do this anyway for piece of mind)

Second option is, take it to a local exhaust specialist and get them to chop part of the exhaust out and re-make/bend etc a new pipe in so it sits higher over the axle.

Any suggestions for a third option which i could possibly do on the driveway?

Many thanks

Callum

Take your diffuser off, look at the hangers on the rear box. They are very close to the body of the car and they knock together. I have a scorpion set up on mine and the ktec system is pretty much the same.

had exactly the same problem..ktr exhaust and a knock on the rear axle..took me a long time to put it right..it needs to be properly aligned..the bent bit hanging over your rear axle needs some clearance othrewise it will knock..another thing is that if your exhaust knocks against it it will throw errors on your dash as the lambda sensor moves about too much..doesnt have too but mine did occasionally..

all it needs is a proper alignment..

check all your exhaust rubber hangers first, you have two on the rear box which you will need to remove the diffuser to access. Theres also on on the centre pipe about half way along the exhaust. You may also need to loosen the centre pipe at the cat and rotate the pipe to get the bent pipe above the rear axle sitting higher.
