ECU Reset

not if this applies to the 197 - but some recommend you disconnect both battery leads and join them together for 30mins - totally clears the ecu memory - it then re-learns as you go for a drive

why you wanting to re-set ecu ?

and i think there is soemthing on youtube of a guy with 197 and the ecu / battery job - think he has the ignition on when the lead is disconnected iirc :book:

The terminals are both disconnected and touched to release any residual charge in the system.

The fuelling will be 'adjusted' to your driving style but that's only within the ECU's parameters. It's not like changing the map and it's nothing drastic.

not to mention if it's anything like vw's that i've done ecu resets on before then the throttle body *could* need putting back into basic settings....

the engine parameters are only reset via the clip diagnostic tool.(or other tools that can communicate.)
battery disconnection does not clear fault code either , but will allow them the changed to stored so will still be logged in ecu.
