Decat or not to decat ?

Hi everyone, I'm just looking for a bit of advice, I got a non resonated scorpion cat back system, and was thinking of, doing de-cat.
Car is remapped anyway so it running almost no flat sport will it need mapping again if I get decat ?
Will I get a engine management light on ?
And will it still pass an MOT as I will be leaving the pre cat in ?
 
A 're re-map is possibly needed after.

MoT fail, as standard cat does most of the work, but u can keep the cat and swap it in before MoT. 10min job.

Engine light will come on but some tunners have found a way to turn that off with a new 're-map.
 
If you're leaving the pre cat in then you should get through MOT no problem.
As for the flat spot you'll probably need another map BUT I've got de cat and k-tec system and its not massively noticeable if I'm honest so may not be worth it. I'd recommend their induction kit mind as since I fitted mine the flat spot ha reduced massively!

The maxogen or the Ktr one?
 
I'm fitting an ITG maxogen this weekend and I've got a Scorpion cat-back on, I'll let you know what the flat spot is like.
 
This has answered all my questions too! Looks like the money I save on Exhaust I'll stick towards a Map + Possibly Maxogen. Is the battery change necessary with Maxogens?
 
I've just had the akrapovic decat, and sure I made a difference. MOT wise most say the pre-cat is good enough. Best to have the induction kit as well to make the most out of it.
 
ive been thinking about getting a milltek decat for my car as ive just had it mapped with the crackle put on and want the pops and bangs a bit louder. haha
 
Don't need to relocate battery with a maxogen that's only if you want a custom setup for more airflow. I'm just routing my feed pipe either to front grill or fog light (not sure which yet!)

I was under the impression that you couoldn't get the crackle map without decat? If I'm wrong this is good news :smiley:
 
How bad is the car on decat without a map? Planning in getting it done the next few weeks, won't be getting mapped till a few weeks after that

Have you got a vid with the setup? What's the inlet/outlet Diameter?

Yeah got it done last week and it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be, as long as the revs are kept high its all good :thumbup:
