Hi All!
Been a member on here for a while now, but never really posted much! Had the Clio for just over a year now so thought I'd make the effort with her!
The 197 was a replacement for my 306 HDi, that wasn't the most practical car ever...
It started like this:
Then went to this:
Then this:
And ended up like this:
It didn't like speedbumps or kerbs or potholes...or the raised manhole cover that ripped the fuel line off...
Anyway, onto the Clio...
Here are a few pictures from the dealers:
And then when I got her home:
She was completely standard, apart from a lack of aerial and black diamond covers! AllI added were a set of team Heko wind deflectors. A bulb went shortly after I got her, so I set about changing this and found this masterpiece of engineering hidden under what I can only describe as a s**tload of black tape:
It then went into the garage to have this sorted, as well as cambelt (this was apparently done by the dealer...the original belt and waterpump suggested not...) and (without checking paperwork) some suspension work that cost a bloody fortune!
This caused me to fall out of love with the car for...well quite a while! I debated getting rid (always wanted an ep3 civic type r) and I even test drove a new fiesta ST (nice car but too comfy and "nice", the opposite of the clio). In the following months a rear bearing went and I replaced the rear disks with MTEC disks and I bought a short aerial which was and still is absolutely awful. The only thing it has done is change colour...from black to silver, it's never got a radio station yet!
But fast forward a few months and she recently passed her MOT and only needed a ball joint (on the other side to the original work). After this she drove much nicer and I decided it didn't make any sense to get rid now I knew she was right! I started to like the car again and debated spending some money on her.
First came a set of mats from eBay:
I also stuck some forum stickers on it at some point:
I've ordered a Scorpion Non-Res Catback system from Cazan racing, so hopefully that'll arrive this week and I can get it fitted.
Here are some photos from today:
The light is cloudy on the inside due to the dodgy wiring, so I think a replacement will be required, but I am debating whether projectors may be a better idea!
This is the only bit that really bothers me on the outside, she will be getting a full detail/paint restore in summer so I'm hoping this might sort it as I don't think it's very deep.
My plans are:
-Fit Scorpion cat back exhaust.
-replace 2 missing center caps.
-refurb wheels - colour unsure but will happen in summer!
-have rear splitter painted (either black or anthracite), with bullets, diamond badges and grills to match.
-H&R lowering springs
-19/20mm spacers
-possibly cup spoiler.
Any suggestions or thoughts welcome, sorry for droning on!
