DA polish Rb 197

Afternoon, ive ggot a trackday in a couple of days and ive put off a thorough detail until after this is complete.

Will be breaking out the DA after this. Anyone got any experience polishing the RB?

Ive only managed to find one thread on it and it sounded like its hard to correct paint. Is that the case? Just trying to guage what to expect to let the wife know how long I will be ditching the family for lol.

Thanks for any input

What products and pads and DA will you be using? You could probably do a single stage correction in a day including tar/fallout remover and claying etc, 2 stage (cut and refine) can be done in a day but it’s tight, start with the least aggressive combo (product and pad wise) and work up from there until you get the results you want, Just done 2 stages on mine using menzerna 2200 then finishing with menzerna 3500 and no more swirls

Pictures are horrendous as it was getting dark but I didn’t find the paint too hard on mine, although the menzerna 3500 which I used first didn’t touch it and was only good for refining really

Your clio turned out well and looks ace in pics despite dying light.

Ive got the das6 DA, Menz light and medium pad and a hexlogic medium-heavy cut orange pad.

Polish, ssr 2.5, megs ultimate compound and sonax ex04-06 and some finishing polishes.

Ive come from honda champ white paint on my old dc5 and that was really soft and easy to correct. The clio paint sounds a bit harder.

Potentially have access to a garage, might try and block out 2 days for it

Yeah I wish I had a garage to do mine in, Ive used my work unit in the past but that involves lugging pressure washers and all my products 22 miles each way haha! Best bet regarding how hard the paint is, is to just do the usual test patches and see how it reacts, this is my 2nd 200, my first one I paid to have detailed before I got into it and that needed a lot of wet sanding as the paint was rock hard yet I’d say mine is pretty soft/below average so who knows haha! Good luck either way post some pics up once you’re done!

Its such a pain not having access to a good space. 22 mile each way...yeah id not do that often either
Ive got a garage on house its the perfect size for a 1960s mini and not much else.

Yeah youre right, test site first and see what works. Have trackday to look forward to first of course
