Clutch delay valve?

I was changing the gearbox mount today and noticed this in line with the clutch line? It looks like a clutch delay valve or maybe a damper of sorts? Never seen anything mentioned so was just curious...

Just a damper in the clutch line. I had mine removed and replaced with a braided line from the bulkhead around to the slave cylinder.

Thats very interesting, I remember my old beamers had them and it meant you could never change gear smoothly, especially first to 2nd and 2nd to third. Removing it meant a much smoother gearchange, probably wouldnt make much difference on these but I wonder if the ends could just be rejoined after removing it?

Exactly what I have done on my E36, make a massive difference.

Tom, did this make a difference to how it drove? As I am tempted to do this if so.
Did you get it from Mitch @ Proline?
