Clio 3 door handle button doesn't lock

Hi guys, I'm new here. I have an issue with my Clio mk3 GT: the door handle button doesn't lock the vehicle. I can lock and unlock the doors with the key fob just fine, also I can unlock the car without using the key fob (having it in proximity of course), but can't lock it. I tried changing the key fob battery like some suggested, but that didn't help. I found a circuit diagram of the locking system (see attached) and checked for continuity between pins A3 and A5 in R3 connector, which turned out to be always open and pressing the button on the handle didn't do anything. Do I understand correctly that A3 and A5 should normally be closed except when the button is pressed?

Sorry if this has already been raised in another thread before. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Become a member it's £5 a year this was put in the "How To" section so members can see and benefit the website sorry but the website has little advertising so needs paying for. Anyway removing the handle opening it and the link to the contact switch is in it. Silver handles are no longer available but matt black or non painted ones might be. You have done the hard work the buttons fail you need to silicone in the back after replacement and I use Contralube gel to protect the new switch from water at the front.
