clio 200 or Mitsubishi evo X

The performance was awesome.

My father had a 400hp escort cosworth.
One of my friends has a spec c scooby with 450 hp.

The EVO X 360 felt just as lively as them, truely awesome.
When the boost came in, just instant smiles.

But as for sitting in. The Clio I feel more connected with.
The cup suspension I found much firmer than the evo's and just having the more bucket seat recaros made the clio feel better too.

I was just a little surprised how refined the EVO was inside.

Either way, it's an epic car.

Yeah it's a recent trend with both the Evo and Impreza, they do seem to be making them more refined and more expesnive... I think they're trying to get away from the somehwate unforutnate image they were starting to get. How's the interior on the new Evo? The older ones were generalyl pretty sh!te places to sit, cheap plastics and what have you.

For the money it was, I thought the interior was just as plasticky or even more so than the Clio tbh. Wasn't the greatest.

I found the EVO 9 a better place to be sat in than the X

a mate of mine bought a new X FQ330 sst had it less than 12mths, always filling it up and could never run it in sport mode as it always hovered at high revs.

he now has an 8MR for track 415bhp and 390ft lb and a 9MR FQ360 for day to day lol

Lol big revival. ha ha

It gets me when people say massive running cost on evo's etc, the last one ive just got rid of i had for 2.5 years and used as a daily drive. Think i did around 17k in it and apart from maybe fuel its no dearer than anything else. Most evos run 17" wheels so tyres no more than the clio, brakes, no more than the clio, i used to average 22mpg, yes please dont get me wrong it will do 15mpg when you go for a blast. Clutch, dont launch them and they will last 20k plus, i was running 340bhp , service is 6mths but its only oil filter and rear diff, i change oil every 6 months anyway.

I was having the same convo with a mate last night. He has owned a number of them and actually says that overall it was cheaper than his Abarth 500!!!

I personally would love an EVO but but for me doing 20k+ miles per year would ruin me:-(

Thread revival lol still as people are adding their thoughts, thought I would do the same.

I sold my Evo X an brought a 197.
Evo's run 17" wheels so are the same price as the Clio???? X's are 245 in size and the cost reflects this. AD08's from camskill £190 something where as for the Clip £120. I never worried about the tax cost as this is payable only once a year so that didn't bother me.
Fuel costs.... Not great. not bad. Soon as you get a bit spirited you do end up parking up in most petrol stations filling up.

Was an ok place to sit. Nice seats, good speakers etc plastics were a bit crap although its a jap car if you want expensive quality buy an Audi I guess.

Servicing from stealers are always around the £350-£380 for the main 10k service. The S-WAC pump well if you buy a X just put £1000-£1500 aside for when this does fail because it will. Major design floors makes the pump fail so keeps the diffs open.

Came back from the Ring and that was the deciding factor for me. It was so dull to drive. Cornering just didn't seem too involving don't get me wrong it was fun but just felt like it was missing something. I can't wait to get the Clio to the ring as the nimble thing is awesome fun to chuck around.

Evo X's are great if you are after straight like speed, traffic light drag races etc of you wanted a fun weekend in the black mountains I would have more fun in the Clio than the X

This is my view and I know most people who shoot me down for what I have said but its from my experience. Really am shocked how much I enjoy the Clio.

Sorry for the long long post haha

I've never seen an evo on a trackday that ran all day long, one spat a boost hose off and turned into flame thrower, exciting but probably didn't do it any good.

They just seem like more trouble and cost than theyre worth in terms of enjoyment. Also they really attract the wrong kind of attention.

I enjoyed that review Murray.

It sounds like the ''problem'', if you can call it that, is that the Evo platform has become so good that it's underpowered with 400BHP...
