Clio 197 steady progress

Hi Everyone.
My name is James and I'm from Alfreton in Derbyshire and currently at uni in Sheffield.
I've recently bought a Albi blue clio 197. I previously had a Twingo 133 which I bought a few mods for, but the upgrades for it were few and far between and the ones that were available, were expensive. So I thought, seen as the upgrades for the 197 are much more available small things can be done for relativity little money. However with living at uni money isn't easy to come by so progress will be slow but i hope to keep the car beyond me finishing uni.
So the list of mods I want to eventually make:
  • Black Badge covers (already purchased just not had time to fit)
  • Renaultsport steering wheel insert
  • De-tango lights
  • Spray diffuser gloss black
  • Remove centre silencer from exhaust
  • exhaust tips and clamps
  • De-badge CLIO
  • H&R lowering springs
  • Bolt-on wheel spacers
  • Blue wheel nuts and locking wheel nuts
  • Spray calipers blue
  • Eventually a cat back exhaust system

Car looks good and a solid set of plans

Just a few things though -

Remove Silencer - will likely result in a flat spot (remap can fix but its likely wasted money doing this if you plan to get a cat-back later on)

Blue wheel nuts - check these out, might save you some money (double check the size) - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/17mm-TPI-...702871?hash=item35cda97a57:g:r0QAAOxy8HlSbp2l

Blue calipers - Just not a personal fan :nope: refurb silver or go red if you fancy the cup look

Went the long way round to uni yesterday. Cat and fiddle and snake pass down into Sheffield. Took a couple of photos, not great quality with phone camera but were worth taking with the water in the background.

Albi blue is just so... Right! Love the pics. Took my old Alfa 156 over the Snake, will take my Clio over sometime when I visit a friend in Sheffield.

It's a great road but I always seem to time it so I'm stuck behind the worlds slowest driver [emoji35]

Great photos  I've only ever done Snake Pass once, but it had been snowing so it was only slow progress. Wouldn't mind doing it again some time.

Got the black badges fitted today and gave the car a quick wash. Couple of problems though[emoji17] the back brakes are sticking. I jacked up each side and the back left wheel took all my strength to turn. Going to a mechanic some time this week to sort out. Also the panoramic sunroof is rattling and it's driving me mad! Does anyone have any advice on how to sort this?

the brakes need to be stripped, cleaned and lubed..there is a how to on here..it's easy enough to diy..ideally every 6 months or so..

hope you manage to sort the rattle..great feature to have but comes with all sorts of issues

Can you put a link up? I tried to find this the other day and couldn't seem to find it ... might just be me I'm useless hahaa! :bash:

Check the seals haven't perished on your calipers - if they have, and it's let water into the pistons, you may need new calipers. I found this out the hard way unfortunately.
