Chip/scuff painting

...got a couple of biggish chips on my car and there is a small scuff on the bumper which is donw to the plastic.....I am going to try and paint them out using a chip paint system....usual thing from Halfruads with a stick of colour and primer....are there any tips to be had from you experts out there?

use a cocktail stick and cotton bud rather than the brush they provide
