Changing TB Internals

Hi all,as some of you may know i've had my 64mm TB on a good while now and it still won't settle so i've come to the conclusion it must have been a slightly faulty unit to start with,i did check it but hey these things happen, anyway as my car has been mapped to suit the 64mm TB i'd like to stick with it so thought about swapping the internals from my original 60mm TB to the 64mm version,my question is,apart from the obviuosly bigger butterfly,is there anything else that will have been changed on the 64mm one? or will i just be able to do a straight swap?

i noticed the other day the 64mm TB makes a buzzing noise when the ignition is on,don't think this is normal so i plugged my original in and turned the ignition on,it still buzzed but very very quietly compared to the 64mm one,so i'm thinking it could be the little motor inside thats causing the issue,

inside the 60mm TB,

any help will be greatly appreciated, cheers

sorry forgot to mention,i have spoke to benmc off here and he's willing to show me the ropes when it comes to stripping the units, just wondered if it was possible first before i start, don't want to end up with 2 dicky TB's

standard throttle body on mine buzzes when ignition is on

as for swapping - i would swap all the internals from the standard one in to the 64mm one - just make sure the throttle spindle is free to move etc

a "how to" would be good - not had me hands on a dbw assembly to strip so would be very interesting for me

cheers foxspeed,i've got a torx screw driver set so just need a 2mm ish pin punch,(think this is all i need),i'll see if i can buy one singly from a motor factors then i'll give a "how to" a go,it does look complex though so if it gets to much i'll just put it back together and let someone else do it,don't want springs and stuff flying all over,

pin punch required for this then the shaft should pull out,

That looks awesome inside Scott.

I once took a watch apart which looked similar, it didnt go well and and I couldn't get everything to fit back in. Please dont let that put you off, I was 9 at the time.

There simple as pea's if you want to change everything over bud and not just the shaft , it's all the same but then just unbolt everything else all torx and it all pops out as one :tongueout:

And if you want to wait till my butterfly is here and fitted before you take yours apart invade anything goes wrong you can borrow my standard one bud

cheers mate, fingers crossed though all will be well,i'll buy a pin punch in the next couple of days so i know i've got all the kit then shot you a text bud, hopefully we can meet up and you can talk me through the process step by step, what could go wrong, gulp!

i ran mine unplugged from the ecu and its been fine ever since i plugeed it in and used it

unplugged from the ecu??? not heard that one before, tell me more... how does the car run if you've unplugged something from the ecu, sorry if i'm being thick!!!

first issue, work mate of mine who i trust alot knocked the pin through last night for me,the pin knocked through to point where it hit the cast casing,he said it needed at least 3mm more,so how does this pin come fully out?
