Centre silencer replacement pipe

I'm looking at getting my centre silencer removed and I went into a garage today and they said I should supply my own pipe. What dimensions do I need and where should I get it from? Also, they said they would clamp it rather than weld it and assured me this would be fine, do you guys agree?

Message the user called Nick on here. I think he has a pipe you could use. Apparently clamping is fine, it's also easier to put your silencer back on.
